In many cultures, it is quite common to have your loved one's dead body at home for a period between their death and the funeral.
This may sound shocking, unthinkable, or even inappropriate to some, but doing so can provide immense comfort.
Doing so gives the bereaved the opportunity to say goodbye, on their own terms, in their own time.
It’s been a big week. I’ve hopped on a plane, delivered training to an auditorium packed with parents wanting to know how to dial down perfectionism in their teenage daughters, and spoken to mums in Boston worried about how best to parent during extreme circumstances (e.g., what to do, what not to say, how much crying and fear is too much).
